Praying Mother

I regularly pray for my children. But, I forgot about this helpful book by Stormie Omartian. I like the specific prayers she uses to guide parents like me. I used to pray daily using the book. I don't know why I ever put it up on a shelf. Happily, I've taken it down and I'm using it again. Prayer gives me belief in God's power, intimacy with Him, and confidence that He is able to intervene in any situation or problem I  have. Three of my children are adults now. For as long as I live they will be covered in prayer. God has been faithful to me. I've seen His hand move powerfully to protect, guide and heal my children. He also thwarts off the enemy of their souls.
I appreciate the contents and the words Stormie uses to help me pray. I still have a young one at home. He is twelve. He needs my prayers ever so much. Recently, I've felt discouraged over small issues within our family. I feel assurance and reliance upon God through the day after spending time in prayer.

Of course I know how to pray and could pray without this book, but I find it so handy and practical that I am recommending it to you. There are topics that I had not thought of to pray over my children.

One of my children is tired quite often, lacking in energy. I began fretting this morning until I found this chapter again. I will take this child to see the doctor, but I stopped fearing immediately after praying early this morning. I will let you know how it goes. God is so good and so faithful. Joy comes from time in prayer. It's never too late to start praying for your children.

"Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name. I will confess and praise You, O Lord my God, with my whole (united) heart; and I will glorify Your name forevermore." Psalm 86:11-12

Blessings, Kathi

A mother's prayers over her husband and children are so important. Especially when they are for pure reasons and within God's will. God has been so good to me and I know He hears my prayers and answers them. I pray creatively and often times ask that God speak to my child about a certain issue not only through God and the Holy Spirit, but through Eric and I and/or a friend, stranger, movie, etc. The main thing is that the child is sensitive to the Holy Spirit and will respond to the Lord's promptings. I also pray that God will give me wisdom and inspiration on what to say to my kids during situations so that I can be part of the solution, not agitate the problem. God has been so faithful to me and I know He is to you too Kathi.

Love, Sharon
