Spring Happenings

It's been awhile since I've shared my news. So get yourself a cup of coffee and sit a spell and I'll tell you what's been going on around her. I'm so excited to be getting some vegetables from my garden.
Even though my asparagus patch is filled with weeds I am still able to harvest some. Many spears are white from lack of sunlight. Shame on me for not weeding more often. We have radishes and butter lettuce; my favorite.
What is it about boys and mud? Garrett enjoys playing in this portion of the garden we've set aside for him and his tractors.
Even older brother Harrison still plays in the dirt. Boys will be boys. I'm so glad they are this way. It's good "clean" fun with no expense needed. They use their imaginations. I think all mothers should allow their children to get dirty. This is Harrison, our older son and his girlfriend Nikki. She is very sweet and think he made a good choice. I'm so thankful to see God answering my prayers for my children.
My husband Stacey and me enjoying dinner around our fire pit. We've gotten so much enjoyment out of our homemade fire pit. It's one more inexpensive form of entertainment and keeps our family close together.
Our friend Logan helping to weed the flowerbeds.
Harrison doing his part to help around the yard.
My husband also doing what it takes to spruce things up. After all the work Harrison and Stacey did some target practice, then cleaned their guns.
While mowing the field my husband found this sweet bunny. Garrett is thrilled to hold it.
They are precious creatures aren't they?
In other news, Jessica got her braces removed after having them for nearly three years. We all love her pretty smile and think those three years were worth it. We are so proud of Victoria. She attends a large high school with high standards and she made the National Honor Society. I was sick with a headache and dizzy, but was able to attend that night.
Daddy is sure proud of his little girl. She worked hard to get this honor. I had breakfast with Dad and Mom one morning and thought it was so sweet that they made a big ham dinner together. I miss seeing them and wish I could get over there more often.
We had a visit from my husband's sister Kara and her daughter Selkie. We decided to surprise my son Garrett.
We drove to his school and let him out for the day. He was so excited to see his cousin. They both smile then automatically hugged. I'm so glad I snapped this picture.
Grandma Vivian went along with us to lunch and shopping. We had a good day.
This is my laundry farm house laundry room where Grandma Vivian has lived for six months with us. She's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. It's been hard, but it's also been rewarding to have had her with us.
It's sad to have her now placed in a care facility, but it was a necessary move. They are able to care for her better than I could. She is with people her age and goes on field trips and has her hair done weekly. It is a beautiful place with gorgeous grounds and lots of flowers.
Our daughters Jessica and Victoria went on a business trip with Stacey to Washington D.C. and had so much fun. I love this picture of them hamming it up.
During spring break my sisters Kelli and Sharon came for a visit. There is never a quiet moment. We talk, laugh and cry. I'm so thankful for my dear sisters.
My sister Sharon and I have been getting together with the girls we went to high school with. This has been so good for all of us. We are all friends on facebook so getting together has been a natural outcome of all the fun and silly things we say to each other daily.
This could have been used for a "Wordless Wednesday" post. The CAT got locked in the truck; need I say more? Poor thing!!! Poor us; the truck still smells. Yucky!!! I don't know how to get the smell out. Well, that's all the news for now. I have much more to tell; but no time. Please come back and see me again. Love, Kathi

"Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe." Psalm 61:1-3

One of the hardest things I ever had to do was put my dad in a nursing facility and leave him there. But, like you, it was too much for anyone to do anymore. At that time he had moved on from us to my sister's house. God bless you for doing it as long as you could.

That smile is gorgeous! I'll never forget my joy when I got my own off and how much it helped improve my self-esteem.

Good for you on keeping up with old friends too. I should take a cue from you on that one. And....vegetables already from your garden?! That won't happen for awhile around here.

I loved teaching my kids to use their imaginations when they were little. It's carried them far in life since that time. I was a big time fan of Lincoln Logs, playing in the yard, etc. Anything to help them let their imaginations run wild! They're now very creative kids in many areas of their lives.

I loved this newsy post. So fun to see a glimpse of what others are doing with their lives. Oh, and Harrision's girlfriend is lovely!

What a fun post! It's so great to catch up on your busy, blessed life! Enjoy these busy times with the family, it will be changing very shortly with the older kids growing up and moving out. I miss the good old days when we had all the kids at home like what you have now. Try to soak it all in and drop everything to hang out with them!!! Also, keep taking pictures, it is so nice to be able to go back and relive the fun times!!! There are a lot of great things in the next phase of life, but just not quite the same.

I love you Kathi! I hope we can come for a visit soon!

Hugs, Sharon

Hi Kathi,
I just happened to have a cup of coffee in my hand when I started reading your post. I found it most enjoyable to visit with you and see what life is like for you and your family. How wonderful to be able to pick those nice fresh vegetables.
After raising 2 boys, I understand all about boys being boys. I had to laugh at the muddy pictures.
The baby bunny is so sweet.
Congratulations to your daughter for making the National Honor Society. That is certainly an achievement to be proud of.
I think it is so nice that you were able to have your MIL live with you for awhile. I also understand that there is a time when it becomes necessary for them to live in a care facility. My mom had Alzheimer's and passed away last October. It is sad to watch our loved ones go through this. I will keep her in my prayers.
Thanks for your recent visit to my blog and kind comments.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
