Good Friday

Please change the song to "Rise Again" Today is the Friday that we call "Good Friday." It is the day Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Below is a painting by Warner Sallman, which I have always loved. The Bible tells us that Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before He gave His life on the cross. Isaiah 53:5
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Psalm 22:15-23

My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;
you lay me in the dust of death.

Dogs have surrounded me;
a band of evil men has encircled me,
they have pierced my hands and my feet.
I can count all my bones;
people stare and gloat over me.

They divide my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing.
These prophecies were written hundreds of years before Jesus was born and before crucifixion was invented. Luke 23:44-47

"And it was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. (which is about 12:00 noon until about 3:00 pm)

And the sun stopped shining and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. (Only the high priest could go behind that curtain. God tore the curtain symbolizing that there is no more separation between God and man, but through Christ there is reconciliation). Hebrews 6: 19-20 "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek."
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit: and having said this, he breathed His last."

Hi Kathi,
I have always loved this picture, it brought back memories of when I visited the Holy Lands in the late 70'sand being in the garden of Gethsemane. I will never forget that day and how I felt seeing where they say our Lord had prayed, my live has never been the same.
Thank you for sharing these scripture and your thoughts.
Wishing you and your family a most blessed and joyous Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Hi Kathi~
Thanks for the little visit with me in The Garden. Interesting how you posted a picture about Jesus praying in the garden and visited me in mine! I love how perfectly timed Jesus Resurrection should come at a time when all around us is new life! I am so thankful that I have that life in Him. And that "He lives"!
Easter Blessings to you and your family!

I am so thankful for what Jesus did for me. I hate to think about how He suffered, but I am so glad that he was willing to die for me that I might be one with Him one day in Heaven! I love the song playing, I picked it to play tomorrow for praise and worship.

Have a joyous Easter!

Love Sharon
