Not An Every Day Event, But What A Treat Once In Awhile

This is me most days. A happy home-maker. I'm thankful that I get to be a stay home wife and mother. At times it is not a very glamorous position, but I value my place highly. Being a wife and mother is a high calling and I do not take it lightly. I really love the Lord and my family. It is a joy for me to serve them. However, I don't want to reach a point of burn-out. So, about every 11 weeks or so I get to go away to a very relaxing place to be pampered. This is my hair salon where I have my hair cut and colored by Frank.
I love the fun friendly atmosphere and cool decor. I got here early so I could take pictures, being the faithful blogger ya know. The lamps would not match my home, but I love them.
This is one of the areas where people have their hair done.
This is Frank's station in which I get to sit. This is where I am queen for the day.
This is where I have my hair washed and scalp massaged.
Even the bathroom is elegant.
This is Frank and me 20 years ago. I know you will think this is crazy, but I never tell Frank how to cut my hair. I just tell him I want to look my age, but to be with it and stylish. He just cuts it and it always turns out perfect. Frank listens and makes me feel comfortable the whole time. He always offers me something comforting or refreshing to drink. I feel totally pampered. He even brings a foot stool over when I'm having my hair washed. He is very thoughtful. Often times I have felt I do not deserve this luxury. I'm thankful my husband tells me he wants me to go and get refreshed. Dear blogging ladies I hope you allow yourself to be pampered once in awhile. Blessings, Kathi

Ohhh Kathi... I just really enjoyed this post... You made me smile as I read about your passion and love for the Lord and your sweet family. I'm so glad that you're in such a happy place in your life! I agree that we should all try to make time for ourselves in order to re-charge and be pampered. Doing so truly does enhance the heart 'n soul, I think. You're so blessed to have a wonderful Husband that understands and encourages you to go out and take that "special time"... Thank you for reminding all of us about how important "special time" can be. God bless...

~hugs 'n prayers~

I have had my same hair dresser for almost 10 years, and I thought that was a long time!Although I am not good about going in as regularly as I should...

I love the red lamp in the salon. And it all looks so spa like. I can see why you enjoy going there! Have a wonderful week! Tiffany

I haven't been able to find a good hair stylist for a few years. Mine that I loved remarried and had a baby and moved away! I should take a trip up and visit Frank. He really does a good job on your hair and you definitely deserve to be pampered. Being a stay at home mom is a ton of work! I always wanted to stay at home but when my first child was three months old I got pregnant with my second child and knew I had to go back to work. We had such high medical debt that I never was able to quit work again but at least I have my babies. They definitely were and are worth it! I've worked all kinds of shifts and had the joy of being able to be home with them while I ran a daycare in my home for 10 years and then went back to school to become a medical transcriptionist and work out of my home. You do have a very noble calling as a mother no matter if you work in the home or out and you definitely deserve a day of pampering!! Cindy

This was such an enjoyable post. You certainly found the right hair dresser. Your hair is gorgeous, and how nice the way he pampers you. I think the reason a lot of stay at home moms get to feeling sorry for themselves is because they stop paying attention to how they look. How one looks has such a direct correlation to how one feels. I think when they let themselves get frumpy looking, they feel frumpy and this is not good for their marriage either. What man wants to come home to a frumpy wife after looking at sharp looking women all day out in the world. It's not right, but it's just the way it is.
Have a great week.

I need that time bad. I do my own in a hurry when I start to get ready to save money. If I start my new job being a Foster mom I am going to get back to me again!

Amen sistah! I totally agree that women need to pamper themselves on a regular basis. What a gem you've found in Frank. As a hairdresser myself, I listen to what people say about how they feel when getting their hair done.

Oh Kathi, what a fun way to be pampered. I am just going to have to start pampering myself sometime. :) I just need to take the time and do it. Thanks for the encouragement.

Frank in Oregon? Tricia is begging me to come see her. Maybe one time I should look Frank up.
I am amazed that you have had the same stylist for 20 years.

You are so right! It is so refreshing to have a little pampering done to us busy mommas.

My girlfriend took me to get a pedicure for my birthday and it was THE most fabulous experience I have ever had! The chair reclined, I was wrapped in warm blankets with an eye pad and a heating neck wrap. Oh my! After they were done massaging our legs and polishing our toes, they took us to the "Relax Room" and offered us tea. We sat there for a long time sipping tea together. I think about that pedicure all the time and can't wait to go back!
Hugs to you.

Kahti. Thanks for sharing your day with Frank. I love to treat myself to our beautiful day spa. I do it about every six weeks. I get my hair cut, colored and highlights. When I really need extra pampering I may treat myself to a pedicure or massage. Once in a great while I'll get a manicure. I don't do that often because it would get messed up so fast being a gardener and florist. I agree being a homemaker is a very imporatant job. It's one that I've nejoying being most of my life. Once in awhile I have worked part-time. Like now, I work 3 days a week. I find it very hard to work outside the home more often than that!!
My hubby loves having me at home!!
Aren't we blessed!!!
Hugs, Terrie

It is great that you have such a loving husband, but even more important is having Frank!!!!!! I want a Frank. Your hair always looks so good. I had a hairdresser I loved and she quit cutting hair. I have been lost ever since. I'm so glad you have Stacey who cares about you so much and realizes how important it is for Kathi-time.
Have a great Day

Do you think Frank could take a little trip to Ohio?

The salon looks fabulous. What a great way to relax and get pampered. I used to have a guy named Ran that cut my hair for many years. Somehow I have lost him. He moves around too much. That is probably why my hair always looks so bad now. I can't find another stylist quite as good.
