Homer Laughlin "Orange Tree" Bowls

Today I'm posting borrowed pictures of these oh so nice bowls from Liz's blog Mabel's House.
These are pictures of Liz's beloved Homer Laughlin "Orange Tree" bowls. I asked permission from her to use them on this post. Thank you Liz.
I fell in love with these bowls from looking at them on her blog. I began searching for them finally two weeks ago, because I finally got away to do some shopping. I stupidly forgot the name of these adorable bowls.
Liz's blog is called Mabel's House. The post about these Homer Laughlin "Orange Tree Bowls can be seen on her blog on this date: Monday, February 11, 2008, titled "Birthdays, Bird Inspiration, and a Little Bragging." They can be seen on many other posts as they are beautifully displayed in her home in the background of many of her photos. She has such a keen eye for decorating. You will love visiting her blog. When I visited the antique shops I kept trying to describe the bowls, but without the name the owners couldn't help me. I looked from top to bottom myself and could not find any at these stores. The dealer's best pick was this bowl.
Although this bowl or vase is cool, it's not the one I wanted. They told me it was a McCoy. It has little gray specks in the glaze. They wanted $80 for it. I did NOT buy it. This one reminds me of my mother's beanpot. She used it for baked beans. It has similar gray specks within the pink glaze. She got both this pink pot and a gray one for wedding gifts. I love the roundness of this fat little pot and its adorable lid. My mother gave me this pink one when I got married (I begged her for it), and she gladly gave it to me and she kept her gray one. The gray came with a matching serving bowl with a divider, which she used for green olives one side and black the other.
My mother often brought baked beans to the church potlucks. Mrs. Hardcastle, an elderly lady, loved them and called them "Shirley's Doctored-up Baked Beans."
I've typed this name into my search engine, but to no avail. Does it say Brurche? or Brunch? or Bnurche? or Bruiche? I cannot tell. Does anyone know what this is and who made it?
I love this bean pot and now I make baked beans in it. Have a lovely afternoon. Kathi

Have a happy night!

What lovely dishes. Dishes seem to be my weakness! Sorry I can't help you out on the name. I ran several on google but came up dry like you did. Good luck with it!

Hi Kathi... I just love hearing your stories about things your sweet Mom did for her family... memories are so precious!

The $80 bowl reminds me of a line of dishware called Pebbleford, made by Taylor Smith Taylor. Not sure about the mystery name dish, but I've jotted down some notes and will see what I can come up with for you.

I wanted to thank you, Kathi, for all of your prayers, messages and warm thoughts during my recent hard times. You're such a dear and a true blessing to me. God heard our prayers and blessed me with good news! Thank You, Lord.

I'm off to read more and catch-up on what's been going on in your life... hope you're having a beautiful day... God bless...

~hugs 'n love~

That is so WIERD those dealers had never neard of them. Crazy... they're pretty famous. I think Martha Stewart started that collecting craze. Oh well, when all else fails, look on ebay. :)

Thanks for the sweet compliments Kathi!
