We are so proud of him for working hard and enthusiastically. We are so thankful for this opportunity for him to drive the combine. This is his third summer.
Here he is getting out of that huge machine. He packed his own lunch each day. He rode his bike most days. This day the field he worked was too far for biking, so he got a ride from us.
My husband (on the left) and I picked him up after work. His boss, Norm (on the right) was one of the nicest and funniest guys. He made work a pleasure for Harrison. He genuinely liked Harrison and was kind to him, yet firm. Harrison was 10 min. late one day, and he firmly said, "Don't let it happen again!" Harrison respected him greatly and it didn't happen again.
This is Cody, Norm's son, talking with my husband Stacey. Cody was also a great boss for Harrison, and treated him with dignity and respect. We are so thankful for these salt of the earth neighbors who hired our son. He learned so much more this year and absolutely loved working.
Harrison was so tired after work. We had him drive though for driving the truck practice. We decided it ought to be another "Cowboy Night."
We got out one of John Wayne's movies, "True Grit."
Harrison was just about to fall asleep, but Garrett and I were on the edge of our seat.
This must have been the part where the girl fell into the rattle snake pit.
We always get out the Little Debbie snacks for "Cowboy Night."
Here's Stacey and Victoria hamming it up. Usually we spread a picnic blanket and have chile with corn bread in front of the tv too. Enjoy the last days before school starts. Have a great day ladies, Kathi "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might" Ecclesiastes 9:10

Your family is so fun! My boys would love to drive a BIG combine! Too cool!
Harrison is a hard worker. I am so glad that he had such great bosses this year. What a wonderful job he has! Cowboy night looks like lots of fun! What a cute idea!!

I totally love the fact that you're all wearing cowboy hats! What a fun idea! I do have to give you a hard time on the Little Debbie's though bz they're my husband's primary competition!! I'll let it slide though since you don't live in my husband's route! J/K LOL! I grew up on a farm and combining is hard work. Glad he had a good but firm boss, that late lesson will help him so much in life in general. Cindy

What a neat way to spend time with your family, and what a nice job your son had. It sounds like he was a good worker and his boss knew that.

It is funny, because I don't have young school aged kids....but I always dreaded the end of summer break. There has always been something so majical to be about summer break...I love a more layed back lazy feel. Even when I had to do hard work in the fields during the heat of summer, there still was the freedom from homework and the enjoyment of a more relaxed schedule. There were not so many odds and ends to keep track of. I still feel the same about summer. However, now that I don't have young ones in school I love the fall too. I love the nip in the air , fresh apples, the trees starting their colors, the looking foward to cocoa and the fires on the patio in the evening. Sounds like your son had a full summer!
What great experience for your son. Looks like a really big, scary piece of machinery. "Keep your hands and feet in the vehicle at all times."
I love the theme movie night. :)
Hi Kathi, I love the name Harrison. I glad that he enjoyed his job this summer and had a great boss. It's good for young people to work so they won't have any surprises when they need too. Deb
Ooooh I love Little Debbies ALL the time!!
And my Hubby would be soo jealous of Harrison driving that big ol' combine!!
Good job, Harrison! Your family has so much fun together, Kathi!
