Two things happened the day I made strawberry jam. I looked out my door and saw this. Victoria was about to get even with Harrison with a water balloon.
My husband Stacey ducked just in time. Notice Victoria's back side is all wet. Harrison quietly opened the door where she'd been sitting on the steps, and dowsed her. Just for fun, I joined the game. Harrison stood on the steps leaning on the railing laughing at what he'd just done to his sister. I quietly opened the door and hit him with a giant water balloon, then I slammed and locked the door. All of us laughed so hard. A few minutes later a swarm of bees flew over our game. They were awesome and frightening.
They landed in this tree 25 ft. up. I called the bee-keeper and he came right over. He is my friend Janet's brother, Marlin, and we buy honey from him regularly.
Marlin put the bee box under the tree. He showed us the inside of the box, which had old honeycomb in it. He told us they may choose the box or go some place else.
Victoria and Dad watched for a long time. These are the two in the family who get reactions from bee stings, and they are front in center watching. It's the element of danger, I suppose.
We waited until the next day, watching every so often.
For some reason they didn't like that bee box, and went some place else. This was pretty fun and exciting for us to see. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. God bless you, Kathi

Wow. Too cool! I LOVE fresh raw honey!
I love these little slices of daily life. And I glad no one got stung by the bees.
I feel like I was there. I'm glad you knew who to call! Is everyone okay? What happens now?

Kathi, I love that you are able to go out and PLAY with the kids. They will remember it forever.
Per your question about my dish, it is called Kings Crown. I believe that at one time you got them in boxes of laundry detergent. I am lucky enough to have nearly a full set. One year one of my daughters found a set for sale and called her siblings to chip in. They gave it to me for Mothers Day. I truly enjoy them, but honestly, do not use them often. The flashing will wash off if they are not washed properly. It also scratches very easily.
BTW Ilove your great big yard. We live in one of those planned communities. My yard extends 10 feet from each side of my house and 14 feet from the back. Were hardly able to get a deck and what I have is very basic, but used and appreciated every day.
I cannot believe your camera captured those bees!!! Kinda scary and interesting at the same time! I would want to watch but would be a big chicken.
Oh and I think maybe you should carry all the unused water balloons in your purse while you are outside maybe relaxing and reading!!!! I would be afraid he would find them and return the favor! Yikes!
Hope your Sunday was great~
Love,
Kelly
Wow! Bees can be kind of frightening. I'm glad they left. We had a swarm come and make a home in our bird house. I called the beekeepper and he came and took them all away.
The water play sounded so fun!
Hugs, Sharon
I think I'd be watching from inside the house.
Water balloon fight anyone?
looks like a wonderful country day,you are so blessed.
That is her step dad. He is awsome and loves Kaytlynn so much. April and the read dad divorced when Katy was a baby. Sorry if I mislead you.
Yikes, I don't mind bees when they are by themselves but a swarm. No thanks! I'm glad no one was stung.
I love visiting with you and your family Kathi, you always seem to be having such fun together even if it's just doing house or school work. Water balloon fighs are soooooo fun! I remember some great ones from my childhood too....and a bubble bath fight, and an ice cream fight that was the funniest thing ever! Thanks for sharing your wonderful life with us sweetie!
