Faith as Small As A Mustard Seed

Jesus talked about the tiniest bit of faith being like one of the largest bushes, the mustard plant. It grows into one of the largest trees that birds nest in; but began with just a tiny mustard seed. He said our faith is like that. Sometimes our faith is so small. If we would just believe and trust in our Lord, He can move mountains. He promises. That's what we are going by with our summer school; mustard seed faith. This faith is tiny, but it's real. This is me sweeping our classroom; the barn. We will teach summer school 3 days per week, from 1:00-4:00 pm, to K and 1st graders.
We printed brochures and put up a web-page. We distributed those brochures at our local post offices, markets, schools, and churches. We made phone calls to many neighbors and friends. We have only one student....my son Garrett. All of us have swept and washed windows. We've carried necessary teaching items out to our barn.
Things are beginning to take shape and are looking more like a school. Jessica hung our alphabet today.

Since Garrett is our only student he gets to be the line leader and use the pointer stick and for alphabet and counting. We still have some junk in the back ground to clean up, which is on the adjenda for this morning.
Victoria, my daughter is one of our teachers, but she is away at camp. We were so happy to have a 9 year old, named Anna come over to help us. She is sweet, enthusiastic, a prayer warrior, and enjoys teaching Garrett.

Anna will be here when Jessica goes away to camp next week. I'm so thankful for you Anna. I gave Anna her official whistle and put her on the payroll.
Here is Jessica filling cups with exactly 20 beans each, for our math problems. We fill 5 containers with sets of eight crayons. Garrett has three teachers; that's a great teacher/student ratio.
Garrett is hopeful that other students will enroll, so it won't be just him all summer. It may sound silly, but we will press on with only one student, my son, for our summer school. Please pray with us to gain more students. We are joyful with or without.

Have a pleasant Wednesday, from Kathi

PS Sharon, Thanks for the use of your hand and photo of the mustard seeds.

"...If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matt. 17:20

We got a little blessing last night in the dark. A Mennonite lady came knocking at my door after we were in bed. She said she might be interested in enrolling her little boy!!!! God is so good.

Keep the faith Kathi. I'm sure when word gets around more students will come. Garrett will love this and he will be really prepared for first grade. This is probably also school for you to get ready to start substitute teaching in the fall! The classroom looks great!

I love you!

I was very impressed with this post. Great pictures. Your son is so blessed to have you for his teacher. I hope other students will join and get this blessing as well. Your next post about the phone booth is a great one too. Parents certainly do make a big impact on the lives of their children. I don't think a lot of parents are aware of how much until their kids are grown and then it's too late. Your sharing will help a lot of parents I'm sure. God bless you.

Kathi, I know a little bit about this kind of walking out in faith. Two-and-a-years ago, I left my corporate job to become a freelance writer even though my husband was already working as a freelancer. God has provided for us faithfully even though it hasn't worked out exactly as I expected. If you are secure in God's leading, then this school project will work out the way He wants it to. It may differ somewhat from your vision or it may be exactly what you hope, but God will bring His plans to fruition.

Bless your work this summer.

Aloha Kathi.. How exciting a school in the barn, I love it!!! And I know it's going to be a blessing to all who enter, boy I would have loved to experience that as a child. I love the country and you are so blessed to experience living on a farm. I have always decorated in country, just so cozy and inviting. I'll keep reading and seeing how your journey continues..

Way to step out in faith, Kathi. I wish I lived closer. I would SO pay you to do for me what I will be doing for myself this summer with a 2 1/2 grade boy. You know, making him a 3rd grade boy.

Hi Kathi!
Your classroom looks fabulous! Oh how I wish we lived closer. Even though Sydney will just be entering kindergarten this fall, she would love to go to your summer school.
Since we just returned home, I'm trying to catch up on my favorite blogs....thanks so much for sharing about your dad and the dimes. Both my parents are full of integrity and taught us so much by example too.
Your garden is so beautiful, as is your neighbors. It doesn't look like you're so new at gardening. Everything looks so lush. With our icky June weather, my flowers and veggies are stuggling. Actually my lettuce is liking the cool wet weather though, so that's a positive. hehe
