Mothers do you feel discouraged? Does fear sometimes over-take you? Does the enemy bring doubt and frustration into your mind, to keep you feeling like a failure as a mother?
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead, is in us to help us. That power from the Holy Spirit is in Christians to enable us to live godly lives to help us live for Jesus, and be those confident good wives and mothers. "THE LORD IS MY HELPER." Psalm 30:10 Is confidence at being a good mother what our goal should be? I think . There are mothers out there who had all kinds of confidence. They thought they were being good mothers. Joan Crawford thought she was an excellent mother and wanted the whole world to think so also. From Christina, her adopted daughter, we heard a very different side of the story.
Confidence is only part of what I want. What I want is to BE a good mother and for God to HELP me to be that GOOD mother. I want WISDOM from HIM. Satan would like for me to feel discouraged, and to remind me of my failures. Sometimes I actually feel like I am like the picture above. Satan preys upon our minds..."The devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour." 1Peter 5:8 It's a lie from the enemy. I am, by God's grace, and by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT, able to be the kind of good mother, the Lord wants me to be. QUOTING SCRIPTURE IS QUOTING THE TRUTH. I AM CAPABLE THROUGH JESUS, TO BE WHO JESUS WANTS ME TO BE. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God , which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7The Lord wants us to ask for WISDOM, and He promises to give it. I have been realizing my great need for the Lord's help in being the good mother I'd like to be. He has helped me think of ideas for blessing my children and family, as well as creative discipline. I praise God for this. At times I have failed to see a problem, or an area needing correction in my child. I am blinded and see that child as A Little Angel. I've asked the Lord to give me discernment and wisdom to see those areas that need correction. Here is a sample of a small thing, but it was huge to me. I got the idea and then realized it must have come from God, as I'd been asking specifically for WISDOM in my mothering. I'm TOO nice, at times. Which can be used by the enemy as weakness. One of my daughters was unwrapping an ice cream sandwich, and at the same time scowling and saying mean words to her little brother. I said, "You are not being SWEET. Put the ice cream sandwich away. You may not have anymore sweets for the day. Your disposition does not match the sweetness of that dessert."
A second daughter did the same thing and there were no sweets for her either. By the next day I had two very sweeter daughters. Only God could have given me that instant wisdom to act in such a way. Believe me the respect for Mom went up quite a bit!! Praise God. I don't want to compare myself to other mothers, but I do think it's okay to have role models. I love Ma from Little House on the Prairie. Instead of comparing myself I want to ask the Lord to just let me be who He wants me to be. Mothers, do not hesitate to ask the Lord Jesus Christ for wisdom in your mothering. He wants us to ask and He is faithful to give us the exact answer we need. I'm so thankful for this."If any of you lasks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives liberally and without reproach." James 1:5

How obvious it is that God has given you this wisdom, I am so proud to have found you through blogging. This is such an encouraging post, and I think the not letting them have sweets was perfect ......until they were sweeter of course. Sometimes I think that people assume being a *christian* that we all have perfect families with children who never act out of line or have the same kind of issues as others. But they do.....and it all depends on what we as parents show them is the right road to take in resolving it. You are doing a great job!!! And the sciptures are perfect!
This is so good Kathi! I love it! I am so glad that you are getting victory and feeling the Lord's guidance in your life in this area! I am so thankful that you prayed for His wisdom and He whispered to you what you need to do! Awesome! Praise the Lord! Mardell left a comment on my blog and said Praise the Lord and left this symbol, \o/ and I realized it is a person raising their hands to the Lord, so, I leave you with this......
\o/ Praise God!

Wonderful post. Very creative. Keep up the good work. Love the corresponding photo's too!
This post is exactly what I needed to read today. My heart was crying out - AMEN, AMEN in agreement to all that you said. Praise God that He will give wisdom, creativity and peace to us freely. Thank you for a beautiful and encouraging post.
What a blessing to see you realize the Holy Spirit working in your daily life! I love it when I receive small "enlightenings" like the one you mentioned. Great post with great visuals!
I love the sentiments expressed in this post. I wish there were more mothers out there like you. This would be a much better world. Love the pictures too.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for the lovely comments you left.
Have a great weekend.
This post has nourished my soul this afternoon.
Kathi,
Thank you for the reminder to rely on the Lord for wisdom. Amen!
I love Caroline Ingalls too. I also like Annie Camden.
Blessings,
Gina
Thanks for coming by and the sweet words.I do love alot of things, but I want evrything to have a place. Does that makes since?I like things where they can be seen and not all scrammed together.
Great post about being a mom.It hurts so bad to try so hard to be the best mom and then have your grown child come to you and ask to talk about what you did that bothered them and you never knew.
I love Little House and always thought that was when I should have been born, but I know God makes no mistakes=)
Thanks for visiting my blog. I enjoyed your last post. I will be back!
Hi Kathi,
Thanks for stopping by my blog, it is so good to meet you!! This is a great post (and I have enjoyed reading your other posts as well!). Being a mom is such a high (and hard!) calling! However I don't think most of my kids would think I am too nice. Dad is the nice one, I am usually the "bad cop".LOL Have a great weekend and I look forward to visiting again soon!!

What a great post Kathi! I am a hugh Little House fan too and love the way Ma was with her kids. Even when she scolded the kids it was with such love. This is a perfect post for me at this time! ( with the boys coming back home and all)
Hi Kathi! That was a GREAT GREAT post. I love the ice cream sandwich story...and I love that you discerned that it was the Lord prompting you at that moment to use the situation as a discipline. Wow. I think all of us as mothers at one time or another feel the same way...not adequate, that we are failing our kids and it is most definitely Satan's lies...He is trying to undo what the Lord is doing. Ha. God will get the last laugh. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I will be back to yours. Oh and your family is beautiful!
kathi - thanks for checking out my blog - i love the music on yours. this is a great post. it is so true that the enemy wants to defeat us with lies and temptations to compare ourselves to others. God wants our hearts - not for us to get it all right. thank you for the great words!
Thanks for the comment on Tornado Alley. I will have to come back and read you to "meet" you. Right now I have to get ready for church. I actually came to my office for a hole punch, and there was my computer whispering, "Turn me on, turn me on, turn me on...."
What a great insight! You have been Blessed! I love your blog - this is my first visit (I'm coming from Tanya's). I will be back, what wisdom you have for other moms!
Thank you Kathi, this is just what I need to hear right now as I prepare to start my day. Bless you sweetie.

Kathi, This posting is awesome. It is great to be reminded of this...and know that I'm not alone in this struggle. You are a beautiful woman of God. Love,Rachel
Thank you for stopping by my blog. Life has been busy and it is the first thing to go on hold.
I do think all mommies wrestle with guilt but homeschooling mommies more so.
I know that throw in the towel feeling very well :) God has been so faithful to me and will be to you as well Sis.
Keep your God ears on because your family is unique and what He whispers to you will be just right for you, and your family, for this season in time. He always has PERFECT timing!
Blessings,
Theresa

Never been to your blog but stumbled upon it at the perfect moment when I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Thanks for the reminder that God does not want me to be anxious about anything. Phew, what a relief. Thanks for the encouragement.
What a great post, Kathi. I love how you include scripture right along with the photos. I've really been struggling as a mom so reading this post today couldn't have been at a better time. Thank you, my friend :)
Hope you have an awesome week!
Clever response to your girls' actions. I often quote Scripture during prayer. In this post, you’ve mentioned a verse I use frequently, James 1:5. It is indeed important to pray for wisdom and heed the Holy Spirit’s gentle nudges before making decisions. Otherwise, we risk acting on fleeting emotions, instead. Keep on encouraging mothers.

Kathi, I loved looking at your blog and thank you so much for stopping by mine. I'm just getting it started and you are such a wonderful, Christian inspiration! I hope to see and hear lots more from you!
Love in Christ,
Angela
I've always wished to be soft spoken like Caroline Ingalls (I have the whole series on DVD!) but I confess I miss the mark sometimes. I wasn't blessed with such a sweet voice and mine carries. I do try though not to yell and I've gotten better as the years have gone by (I came from a family of yellers so this was difficult for me). All we can do is to do our best! I love your response to them about the ice cream sandwiches, how clever!
