Fear of Decorating

I have such a desire to decorate. I want a cozy and pretty home, so that I will love it and enjoy living in it. I want to feel comfortable inviting guests over.  So, I went window shopping because I am afraid to buy anything because it might be wrong.  I am drawn to these colors I saw on a poster  at Target.
This painting has the same tones and was at Hobby Lobby.  Here they are again sort of in this rug.
Here is my very own lonely bathroom wall, which has had this single picture on it for six years. I am realizing that I fear decorating. My sweet sister Sharon was here last week and we talked about it.
She suggested making a decorating file for the photos on my computer, to see if there are patterns. This has been fun and helpful.   I like that accent chair and I love green and white. The other day, with fear mixed with excitement, I bought the chair and some plants. I have given my desire to the Lord and I have asked Him to help me. He is the best helper and He knows me best. I'm excited to see how that fear goes away and how creativity and confidence will take their place. He has already helped me by sending Sharon.
                  Esther 1:6
"The garden had hangings of white and blue linen, fastened with cords of white linen and purple material to silver rings on marble pillars."
Blessings, Kathi

Pinpoint what YOU love... and go for it! You can never go wrong decorating with the things you love. After all, you are the one who will live with it, see it everyday, and bask in the beauty and coziness of your home! And backup (Sharon) is always a blessing and a gift! lol! ...You can do this! :) ~Rhonda

Hi Kathi, , enjoyed this one so much, as i sometimes feel intimidated by all of the decorating blogs, but like you want a cozy and inviting home! I always ask God for help, and He always comes through for me!

I have not been on line very much lately and I sure miss a lot from my friends, I so enjoyed catching up with some of your previous post, especially your thoughts on shoes, and the path before you! Your sincerity and openness is so refreshing to me, as encouraging too!
Making salsa is one of my favorite things to make in summer, and like you when I stand for long periods of time, my back aches too, thanks for the tip of wearing clogs, as i usually am barefooted. ~smile~
Enjoy your week,
Blessings,
Sue

Kathi, you are so sweet. I just love you and Sharon. I haven't blogged much. Life has hit us hard, as it has so many others. But God is always good.

Among many other things, i decorate...for weddings...people's homes...offices. ..people's homes for Christmas. ..just what ever.

This is what I know that is always true.
1) there is truly no right or wrong in decorating
2) if you buy or find and decorate with things that you love, it all comes together in a beautiful tapestry that is perfectly you
3) you will find so much joy when you start inviting others over and sharing your home with them.
4) if your house is neat and clean and filled with love your guests will sense it and relax and have fun

I love to decorate and I hope my words will encourage you and not discourage you.
As I clean and decorate my own home I pray that any one who walks through the doors will sense the overwhelming love of Christ.

Be blessed. You are an amazing woman.

Sweet Kathi... if I decorated for anyone but myself, I wouldn't have gone the direction I have. I let my home and my heart speak to me and it's exactly the way I want it. Or at least it will be, when I finish it ;)

Trust your taste and worry about what YOU like. I'm sure your sister, Sharon will be a great help. She should be a wedding coordinator!

No matter what, have fun with it :)

xo,
rue

PS I loved your anniversary post. Happy belated Anniversary!
