Backyard Barbecue For the 4th of July

I hope you all enjoyed being with friends and family on the 4th of July. I'm just now getting around to posting my photos from our fun day.
I just love the scent of a bunch of petunias. The heat brings out the wonderful aroma. I was so happy to find this 4th of July basket last week; just in time for our neighborhood barbecue.
I made up several boquets early that morning. My husband and son Harrison and his girlfriend, Nikki helped set up table and chairs.
I was so happy to find these wild white flowers growing out near the cows. I was able to make several red, white and blue floral arrangements.
Things are beginning to come together. We always wanted to give a party on Independence Day, but never had. I was very nervous about entertaining.
It's like anything else, the more you do it, the better you get at it. As nervous as I was I took baby steps and jumped in with both feet.
One thing I learned was that if you invite them; they will come!!! We provided hamburgers and hot dogs and the drinks. We asked our guests to bring a dessert and a salad. The amount of food was perfect. Somehow I learned from our family reunions, that if you ask them to bring two items it's just right. If you ask for only one you will not have enough food or variety. One time at a reunion we had six potato salads and not too much else. It was kind of funny. The guests are biginning to arrive. Evelyn and Larry, Nikki's parents.
Our daughter Victoria the corn toss game with he boyfriend Gabe. Gabe's grandparents. Gabe's parents Ed and Renee'. Our son's boss and also, our neighbors Cody and Nicole.
Gabe's sister Esther, our daughter Jessica and a friend, Laura. Our fun neighbors Trudy and Gary. We are so thankful for the outdoor games they brought, including the corn toss game. Our daughter Victoria and her boyfriend Gabe. He is a very nice boy from a very nice family. We are very thankful!
Our neighbor Morgan scarying people with one of our roosters. I'm so glad my parents Leonard and Shirley could come. Mom brought an apple pie. The teens played Apples to Apples for awhile. We served hamburgers from our own beef cows and hotdogs.

Harrison saying good-bye to his girlfriend Nikki. We are very thankful for Nikki and glad she comes from a good family.
Logan, Harrison good friend. They go to both school and church together.

My husband Stacey with our good friends Morgan and Gary. Laura, a friend and Jessica, our daughter. Garrett wanted to make a pyramid and wanted all the little ones on the bottom. How cute. I think he did not realize how heavy those big kids would be on his back. It's wonderful to entertain and to stretch one's self. It's a bit scary to have people over, but it's so much fun. I praise God for all of our dear friends and family. Have a blessed evening dear friends. Kathi

You may have just hit the nail on the head. I hate entertaining and a big reason is the food. I only have people bring one thing. From now on I'm asking for two! It looks like tons of fun. We don't entertain much (it's kind of hard to entertain when your husband goes to bed at 6:00 p.m., lol!). It looks like a fun time for everyone, no matter the age!

Your party looked like so much fun and the flowers were just beatuiful. I like to do a 4th of July party too. It is on a much smaller scale but we always have so much fun. Mary really got into it this year with the decorating:) Blessing to you today!

Wow... you really put on a big spread! I'm impressed! I get freaked out when fifteen people come over for small group (and all I do is make dip). :)
