I have not had a one on one mom date with my daughter Victoria in awhile. I've been missing her. So when she told me winter formal was coming up we went shopping.
She knew she wanted a long red dress so we hunted quite a bit and she narrowed it down to two dresses.
Since I am the mom I have the final say, so I was watching for certain things like modesty.
Victoria loved this dress, but we both agreed that because it had no straps or scarf it was a no.
Yes, I know, it's very pretty, but every time she breathed in the dress fell down.
This one is her final choice and I gave my stamp of approval. I love its elegance and scarf, which she can wear over her shoulders.
It has little diamond studs around the empire waist. Victoria paid for the dress herself. I bought her shoes and the alterations which will follow.
We are both very happy and thankful. We prayed before we shopped for a successful find. God is so good.
After our purchase we went for a cool drink and shopped some more at the mall.
I'm so thankful for this time I shared with my daughter. We will now have the dress shortened, as she will be wearing a lower heal. I will tell about that soon. Have a lovely evening. Oh I love the 2nd one! Much more flattering and much LESS BRIDESMAID.
My friend had the same dresses in burgundy for her wedding in June.
Strapless is nothing more than a huge hassle for a dance anyway.
She is going to be gorgeous!
What a beautiful dress! Victoria is such a lovely girl!
oh i agree! the one you two chose is much prettier than the first one. i love it!
She's gorgeous, Kathi, and so is the dress. Do enjoy every moment - before you know it you will be buttoning her wedding gown...been there, done that!
Have a great week...Kathy
Very pretty Kathy, you have a beautiful daughter.
What a fun day, I love spending time with my son, treasure these times.
The second one is my favorite too! She looks beautiful in it and im sure when she gets that pretty hair all dolled up wow.
I love your glasses too girl. Im all about the bling.
Hi Kathi! Sweetie Victoria is just gorgeous, the dress beautiful......she'll be absolutely stunning! Thank you for Eden's birthday wishes, she had a wonderful sweet 16th! Wishing you a lovely day my dear friend........

She looks absolutely beautiful! Girls days are some of my favorite days ever (even if I do have to shop which I hate to do)! I have never figured out why it's so hard to find modest prom dresses. If you go to the modest web sites to find them you pay a bazillion dollars more! Prom here was very casual this year, I think bz so many families are hurting so Kaje' only spent about $60.00 on her dress. Whew! Victoria really looks good in red too.
I agree with your pick. What a blessing you have in your daughter! what a blessing to have you for a mother!
The dress you and she chose looks good on her. She looks lovely and very confident in it. That's precious she paid for it with her own money and that you two prayed beforehand for the "right" dress. Sweet time~
lovely dress. and lovely memories yall made spending time together. i too enjoy those special times.
A great dress and so lucky that you both like it. I hope V has a wonderful time at the dance.
My daughters and I used to set aside one day to go formal shopping each spring break (formals around here are late in the school year). One on one time. For me that meant 3 separate shopping days. Hahaha. I loved it so much. Alas, those days are gone. How quickly that leaf turned! Enjoy this time while you can. You both will remember it for a long time.
Kathi-
I love the dress Victoria picked! Shopping for formals is one of our favorite things to do as well!!! How beautiful she looks!!! Blessings-

Kathi, that is so awesome. I would love to know more about the alterations. I have done alterations on formals for years but the last week of October an opportunity literally fell in my lap to do the alterations for a local consignment store that specializes in formal wear so I'm doing that in the evenings after my regular work. I need to count and see how many alterations/redesigns that I've done since I started contracting that store's work. Also, it is so refreshing to hear a mom and daughter feel that modesty counts. We feel that way too! Have a great evening...I'm rambling on way to much. Love, Rachel
That dress would have been my pick. It is so elegant and looks beautiful on her.
As a mom to 5 boys, I thank you for paying attention to modesty. It surprises me how many girls do not dress modestly "these days", even girls who are commited Christians.
I am thankful for moms like you who help and encourage their girls to honor their brothers in Christ by having True Beauty.
Victoria is so beautiful! She looks great in those dresses! Modesty is so important and as a mother of boys, they do notice when girls are modest or not and they prefer the modest girls. You are so blessed to have daughters and to have such close relationships with them. What a fun day!
