I am trying to find the right balance for blogging and use of my time. I enjoy blogging, but many weeks I lack the time to for it. This was one of those weeks. I'm caring for my MIL and have four children in school. I am happily married and want to meet my husband's needs. I think I may be able to post two times per week. I will give this some thought.
Yesterday was a busy day of sewing and helping children with homework. I was supposed go to a jewelry party an hour away from home at 6:30 in the evening. Right away I realized that I was not going to go to that party. Two of my children needed my attention. My house was out of order and I was extremely tired from lack of sleep the night before. My husband deserves a clean peaceful home and nice dinner.
I made a decision to stay home and see to the needs of my family. I felt so much better. I don't know why I put such pressure and guilt on myself that I am obligated to go to that party. I called the hostess and apologized, placed an order over the phone to her, and felt terrific for staying home. In Titus 2, Paul instructs the elder women to teach the young women to be “keepers at home”. What does this mean? The Greek word translated “keepers at home” (KJV) or “homemakers” (NKJV) is oikouros. This compound word is from oikos- house, household, family; and ouros- a guard, guardian, a watcher, a warden. Let this thought sink in for a moment: the word “oikouros” translated “keepers at home” carries the meaning of “watching the house, of a watchdog” It also means STAY PUT! This does not mean I can never go to a Tupperware party ever again, but I should make sure all things are in order first and that there has not been too much activity in my home for that particular week, in example several sports events, dances, doctor visits, school functions and the like; all of which encompassed my week. I realise I must be wise with my time.
After a nice quiet meal and visiting with my family we decided to play some card games. One of our favorites is Dutch Blitz; a fast paced Amish game. We also played UNO.
I felt closer to my husband and children for making the choice to stay home. I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend. I will do my best to come visit you soon. Hugs, Kathi

You truly do know what matters most and I admire that.
Hi Kathi, finding the right balance is tricky. But as for your dear family and hubby you will always make the right choices...they are your heart. Now for blogging just enjoy without pressure...post and visit when you can. I love my visits and always feel I come away better for them...hugs, Linda
You should never feel obligated to do things when you over book yourself. IT causes way to much stress and pressure. I overbook myself and then awful, so I have had to learn to manage my time and what is right for me.
We stay home alot too and play games, or have movie night. I ride 3 to 4 days a week but my kids are alot older than yours.
Jewelry parties are fun, but if you have a messy house, sink full of dishes and lonely kids, to me that comes first.
Kathi, Bless your heart. I have a tendency to put myself last because I don't want to hurt someone else...I want things perfect at home...I struggle with all the hours that I'm working right now, but my husband and I realize that God has opened this door for a season while our actual business is so slow, so I thank God for his providential hand in our lives. Thank you for your reminder for balance. Bless you as you pursue it also.
I am always so delighted when I see someone has commented on my blog. However, that being said, blogging is my way of journaling our life and my thoughts. Without it, so many things in my day to day life would be lost or forgotten. I hope that when I am gone, my children and grandchildren will read it again and enjoy a look back on our life.
I guess my point is, do it for you!! We all enjoy the little peek into your life and being encouraged by you, but it can only be done if you are enjoying it. Do not make it a chore that you have to tend to each day.
Will be looking forward to your two posts a week, if that is where you are being led:)
I agree. I keep things pretty centered too. Of course around the holidays that seems to fly out the windows, but on regular days we try to keep things more relaxed.
So many choices...we have to be sure that we choose what is best which requires us to sometimes give up that which is good. I pared down to three blogging days a week. On those days I visit. It has been working out okay. I work three days a month...even that i have found challenges what I like to accomplish at home. Blessings sweet sister. Love your heart!
I love it that your heart is for your family and you make them a top priority in your life. You're a wonderful example of a Godly woman and I appreciate that, Kathi!

You made a great choice Kathi! God bless you and your lovely family this week.
I've always felt that creating a peaceful home was a HUGE priority....our little family needs to know how to chill, have fun and be able to love within our walls. And where mama goes, there goes the rest of the house. :o) The best "doing" we can live out is peace at home. I LOVE Dutch Blitz....I need to pull that out and set it on the counter to remember it next time our girls are home.
I think you made the right decision. If I go to those parties I plan it that I have my house clean and cook something in the crockpot so dinner will be ready for the family. Your evening sounds fun.
Love Sharon
Looks like you made the right choice. Good for you!
I am always striving for that balance too Kathi. Which is why my blog has been so empty these past months. Every time I think I am getting started again, something else comes up. Good for you for seeing what your priorities are and honoring them. What a wonderful example. xoxo
