Please see what Leslie at My Country Home, is working on this week. I decided to do her Mr. Linky and participate.
I'm so happy to be able to say that I am finally finished with Garrett's Christmas stocking. I began making his stocking when I was pregnant with him. The last thing I wanted to finish was the gingerbread house and cookie cutters. Then of course, to stitch the front and backs together. I added this snow man and the gingerbread man below, last year. Just so you know the timing, he just turned eight last month. I have been kind of busy and have not set my mind to completing it.
I added little cookie cutter trinkets for fun. I'm happy with the finished product and so is Garrett.
This is how it looked last December.I came up with my own pattern and this is how far I come with it.
I printed off pictures of gingerbread houses for inspiration to create one for him.
I bought some little charms to dangle from the stocking when finished. I love the miniature cookie cutters.
My three teenagers have had their stockings for many years. Here is what they look like. Harrison's stocking has a little piece of rubber band to make his sling shot. Here is how one of their names appears. I used six strands of thread to stick the child's name. Victoria had long blonde braids so I braided several strands of threads into braids to make her hair.
I decided to continue the braid pattern and made a braided rug and and stitched it into a rug for the floor near her bed.
Jessica's stocking came from an actual kit. It went together easily and I am glad to have had this aid for my first attempt at making stockings. She now states that she'd like an original hand-made stocking from me. Wonder how long that would take me to make? She does lover her stocking, but has now realized that her brothers and sister's stockings were put together by Mom. I guess I get a little pat on the back for that.

Oh Kathi sweetie, these stockings are just so beautiful! I love the care and attention to detail that you've used. I am sure your children will love them forever, even long after they too are parents. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas season my dear friend!

Kathi, I love the stockings. I have to agree though that Jessica needs an original too. I have knit stockings for some, but not all of the grands. I also have a counted cross stitch I started for one grandson when he was born. He turned 17 this summer. Maybe I should finish it.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I love hearing from you and do check in on you often even if I do not always comment.
I am very blessed with my family and am so appreciative of it. I see so many families in ruins that I am very thankful that my children do enjoy one another and like getting together for special times.
Hi Kathi! Sweetie we just announced the winners of my giveaway and you were one of them! I hope you like them sweetie. Just email me your postal address and I'll get them off to you in time for Christmas. Have a lovely day....

You reminded me that I have a picture that is done with crewel stitching with yarn still sitting in my closet. I started it when Nicholas was a little boy (he's 24 now). It has a bunch of teddy bears on it and is definitely a boy picture. Maybe when I get a grandson I'll finish it. My carpal tunnel had gotten too bad to finish it and I tucked it away and forgot about it! You did a great job on these. Maybe Jessica's won't take so long now bz the kids are older and would allow you to work on it :) Your kids will truly cherish these as the years go by! I made Nicholas a new cross stitch one about 8 years ago and actually got it done! You can too!
Kathi, love the stockings! Your so creative!

Kathi, these are all sooooo cute! I love them. You did a great job on them. I agree with Jessica and she needs her own original, it might make her sad when she is older to realize she is the only one with a different type. I love you!
