Easter Dinner and Desert Rose

Hi Dad and Mom and blogging friends. The afternoon before Easter I set my table with the Desert Rose dishes my mother in law, Vivian, gave me several years ago. I've always loved this pattern. I don't have a large enough platter for the ham, so I used the green one below.
My sister Sharon entertains more often than I do. She gave me this hint one time. "Set out your serving dishes and think about what food will go in to each dish. Also set out the serving spoons and forks the day before so that you won't be looking for these items at the last minute." Wonderful advice. This really did help me. Sharon also peels potatoes ahead of time, and keeps them under water (so they won't turn brown) I followed her advice and had a wonderful easy breezy time getting dinner ready. Thanks Sharon. On the bottom of this bowl on a piece of tape is written "Bowl chipped from tornado 1950." My mother in law's sister Wanda went up in that tornado. She was not injured, but quite frightened.
The bottom of the beautiful pitcher says "Franciscan, Made in California." These pieces are from the 40's and 50's.
I love this pitcher.
There was one tumbler included with the dishes. I don't know if they make the tumbler today. I just love mine. The next morning we woke up early to attend the first service at church. Before walking out the door I saw my husband, Stacey arranging the flowers he had picked for me. I'm so thankful he does things like this for me. He is my dream man. We loved church. Our pastor is so good. My mother in law, Vivian came over for our Easter dinner after church. We had a wonderful ham dinner, mashed potatoes and gravy, with a green salad and rolls. I forgot to take pictures of us eating.
After dinner, my daughter Victoria, and I played a table game with Vivian.
Garrett loves Grandma Vivian.
Grandma, Garrett and Stacey look at photos on the computer.
Time for another game.
This time Garrett and I played near the fire place. He beat me!!
We had a wonderful Easter and I hope you did too. Next week we will see my side of the family and have an Easter egg hunt.
Also included with the dishes was this pretty frame.
I put Vivian's picture inside the frame several years ago and enjoy having her inside it. Have a wonderul day today. Love, Kathi "The Lord is my sheperd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters." Psalm 23:1

What a beautiful set! Thanks for the comment you left, I always value what you and your sister share with me:) When I hear the word "alcoholic" I think of someone drinking all day and letting it interfere with their work and finances, I guess relationships too. Look at me making excuses for him:) AA is not an option, he doesn't think he has a problem. I just keep praying that one day for the sake of his liver he will give it up.

Hi Kathi,
I had planned not to be on my computer until later today, but could not resist to see who had posted, and when Is saw you had posted about my favorite dishes I just could not resist.
I have been collecting Desert Rose for years and never tire of this pattern. You are so blessed to have been given these rare pieces with such great quality!!
When I first started I found great quality because they were either made in the U.S.A. or England, but when the company went to China the quality was and is not there anymore. So I don't buy in stores anymore I find them at Auctions, and I am happy to say we were at an auction Monday night and found four cups and saucers. Again God is so good.

Your Easter table setting is so pretty. And to see Stacey arranging the flowers is something my sweetie would do too. Always wanting things to look so right so that I would look like the perfect hostess.
You and Sharon seem to have the same relationship as me and my older sister, I am so thankful to have her in m life. Hope you have a most blessed day.

A beautiful lay out! I love the china pattern. I thought my dad was the only OCD host who lays out the service the day before - but really its a great idea. He even puts sticky notes in each platter to make sure he remembers which one gets what food.

Lovely day!
