We visited the Oregon Coast. It was lovely and refreshing. This portion of the Pacific Ocean has a dangerous under-tow. One must be very careful not to go out too far. There is a built in safety as the water is so very cold, that going up to the ankles is sufficient.
It's simply breath-taking.
Our daughter Jessica enjoying the beach.
Our son Garrett viewing the sea.
Of the 300 mile coastline only 3 miles is privately owned. The other 297 miles is open to the public to walk along, picnic, swim or ride horses. No cars are allowed. I never see garbage on the beach. There seems to be a lot of respect for God's creation.
What a glorious time.
Enjoying the sand.

No trip to the coast would be complete without a stop at Mo's Annex seafood restaurant.
There are many Mo's up and down the beach. They have the best clam chowder.
This is Aunt Belinda's Candy store which has been here as long as I can remember.
I remember this cute boat in the center of the store, filled with salt water taffy. I was just a small little girl when I used to come in here and choose taffy from the boat.
There are so many flavors to choose from. I find it difficult so I just bought a sampling. Watermelon turns out to be a new fave of mine.
Jessica begged to go into the wax museum, so I took her. She loved it and got her picture taken with "Johnny Dep."
The sea lions gave a us a show with their loud barks and roars.
Newport
There are many aesthetically appealing bridges up and down the Oregon Coast. The architect who built these gorgeous bridges, Conde Balcom McCullough, fought to get his way. He chose concrete, when his opponents demanded wood. Because he won they are still standing today. The Gothic style, Romanesque arches and cathedral effect of so many of his bridges is unbelievable. He built over 600 bridges. Each little spindle along the rail of this one in Newport is in the arch form. Bob Howen took this photo of the Newport Bridge
We didn't visit this bridge this time, but I simply must show it. It is the Cape Creek bridge. I got the picture off Google images. Even as a child I recognized the beauty in the bridges. Like most beach towns, tourism is big stuff. There were lots of cute shops, antiques and candy stores.
Jessica riding the bike rack.
Now Garrett's turn.
There is nothing like the serenity of the Oregon Coast. I hope you will have an opportunity to come here sometime.
We had a wonderful time. Thank you for coming with us. Hugs, Kathi

Oh yes, there is nothing like the coast here in Oregon. It is truly wondrous.
How fun, a mini cyber vacation.
What a beautiful trip. I felt as if I were there!
What a fun day Kathi. Seeing Sea lions is something that we don't see around my area. Your pictures are great.
Have a good weekend.

Oh, the green eyed monster is on my shoulder today looking at these pictures. I love the beach so much and am soooooooooo jealous of you right now! About 12 years ago I took the kids to Disneyland with my friend and her kids. We spent one day at Balboa Beach and the ocean forever took my heart! I love the sights, the sounds, the smell, the feel, and absolutely everything about it. You're so lucky to live so close!
I love the Oregon coast! It is so beautiful. It looks like a wonderful family day that you had! You did all the traditional coast-y things! Mos, taffy, etc. I love it! The bridge are so beautiful, I wish all the bridges around here looked like them.
Love, Sharon
P.S. Grayson's team lost last night and it was a heart breaker. We were ahead 17-0 in the third quarter, but they came back and beat us 21-17. It was really, really sad.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and for being a Special Olympics hugger. I enjoyed the pictures from your trip to the beach. Someday I would like to visit Oregon. Take care.
What a fun fun vacation. Thanks for the invitation to "tag" along! xo rachel
Hi Kathi... I really needed this post today... Thank you for sharing your beach... I just ache to be at mine...
I simply do not understand how anyone can stand on the shore, digging their toes into the wet sand as the water laps around their ankles, and not believe in God...
~hugs 'n prayers~

Hi Kathi :)
Beautiful pictures and it looks like you had a wonderful time! I miss the ocean somethin' awful, but I get to visit it through sweet bloggers lenses, so it's okay ;)
I have kitchen envy too! I read the post about yours and now I want a checkered floor :)
I hope your toothache is better and you don't have to go through the pain I did... yikes!
hugs,
rue
Kathi- Thanks for sharing your trip... I love the coast, it is easily one of my favorite things about Oregon!
I so appreciate your stories, they are like a beautiful worship song, sung to the Lord, praising Him for the beauty and wonder in His creation.
I have lived in Oregon for three years and still have not made it to the coast and I'm only 75 miles away:( I'm looking forward to going to the sea lion caves. Looks like you guys had a blast.
We so enjoyed our week at Seaside this August. It was the first time I spent more than a couple of hours on the beach. Like you said the beach was pristine. It is good to see that people take care of it. There was a undertow at Seaside also. My grandson was a bit miffed at me that I would not let him go way out. Until I explained the dangers and that I am not physically able to save him.
I look forward to going again.
Kathi, Oregon is on my list of places I'd love to visit!!! Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures.
The wax figures look SO real in person but they don't photograph that well. I went to Madam T's in New York and it was SO MUCH FUN!!
