Garrett's Kindergarten and Inspirational Teacher

Garrett graduated from kindergarten Friday night. Garrett, we are so proud of YOU! You worked hard and learned many things. You can read and add and subtract.
His teacher, Miss Kelly, was very loving and enthusiastic. She was one of the best teachers I've met. I was impressed with her confidence in front of the parents during the ceremony. I don't truly know if I would have had that at a young age.
Miss Kelly held a sweet little graduation ceremony for her six students. I am so impressed with her for starting this class.
This is Carol, Miss Kelly's wonderful mother. She encouraged and helped Miss Kelly get her class going. What a great mom. I learned a lot from watching this mother/daughter team. Miss Kelly is only 23. She holds three jobs. This is her Tuesday through Friday, 1:30-4:00 pm job, as kindergarten teacher.
She has a college degree, but not a teaching degree. She thought up the idea of teaching kindergarten, and went ahead and did it; VERY successfully.

She rented this classroom, made up some fliers, and told friends what she was doing. Soon the calls came in.
Isn't this rented classroom adorable? She offered it to me, so I could teach next fall, as she and her husband are moving away. I can't stand it. I will miss her so much. I won't be able to rent the classroom for lots of reasons, but I was drooling at the thought of being able to.
Along with her kindergarten afternoon class, Miss Kelly, tutored two young homeschool girls each morning Monday through Friday. That was her 2nd job. Her 3rd job was teaching

My two daughters in their Monday home-school co-op from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. She made them write 10-page papers on the Reformation and China. The school district paid her for the co-op job. She was a huge inspiration for me and my girls. I have decided that if Miss Kelly, at age 23, can be so successful at doing jobs she created herself; so can we! We are opening up a SUMMER school from 1:00-4:00 three days a week, teaching review academics to kindergartners and 1st graders. I'm scared to death, but trusting the Lord to help us. The girls and I are getting the plans ready to begin next week. We will be using our big red barn for a classroom. We will let you know how things go. Thanks be to the Lord for sending Miss Kelly into our lives, and thank you Miss Kelly. We appreciate you so much and we'll miss you greatly. Kathi and girls.

How inspiring! I have often thought about teaching a co-op type class on things like bread-making or even tutoring, but the past couple of years haven't had us in a 'stable' place so I'm looking forward to our [last] move and possibly be able to do this.

I will keep your and your girls adventure up in prayers. I think it is great to teach your girls at such an early age to be servants such as this. And teahing them HOW to homeschool their own children in the process.

I used to tutor English and Algebra when I was in college. It was so rewarding to help others understand a concept that had been difficult for them. Good luck with your school!

Oh Garrett looks so thrilled! Congratulations!
I have to tell you as we drove the route to Briannas graduation, I had tears in my eyes because I knew that in your neck of the woods you were getting ready to do the same thing, with your little graduate, I quickly said a prayer for both of us, knowing that this is a mini milestone! Miss Kelly sounds like a dream and to have her in so many areas, with Garrett with the girls etc, I am sure it will be difficult to say goodbye.
And as far as you guys holding classes!! Oh my goodness my jaw dropped, my first thought is of course *how awesome* and my second is * I wish we lived by you!!!!!!* how fun would it be for the kids to do a summer school at your place in the barn, how very very exciting!!!!! Oh Kathi I promise to pray for you everyday during this exciting and rewarding time!
Please keep us posted, this is such good news.

Love,
kelly
