Time to Plant the Garden

Good morning everyone!! Here's what we've been working on. We've got our tomatoes and peppers planted; beans and corn are next. Those are Marion berries on the north side. We have raspberries on the south side. Our garden is back near this metal shed. It's a lovely walk, but when I need chives or basil, I'm usually standing in the kitchen and don't feel like going this far back to get them.
This is my potato patch. There are radishes and lettuce here too. I used to have an herb garden on this end, but I've decided to move that up near my kitchen. I left some chives here. Arn't they pretty?
I was thinking how blessed we are with color. God could have made everything black and white. This is the spot I've chosen for my kitchen garden. My kitchen is straight ahead in this picture, and it will be much easier to clip herbs from here than going way back to the garden. So far I have chives, basil, thyme, leeks, and a few peppers in my kitchen garden. My husband is driving a stake for the hog fencing we use for string beans. He stepped back onto a stake and poked his foot. The jagged metal went into his foot. I felt so bad for him.
He's updated on his shots thank goodness. Here is another view of the hog fencing. Whew! We put this up last week when it was 90 degrees.I'm making a little privacy fence for the drive-way out of arborvida and flowers. We don't get too many cars on this road, but we feel like we are on display when we do.I was thinking what a good God we have. Even though we suffer the curse of thistles and thorns, He allowed us to keep the pretty flowers. He could have removed all the beauty, but the Lord let us have some of the beauty of the Garden of Eden. Some day we shall see all of it!!! Praise the Lord. Have a lovely day Ladies. Kathi

Oh, Kathi-You have touched my heart this morning. Now, I want to plant a vegetable garden again. But, I just don't have the proper place anymore. I really should consider just doing raised beds in the yard. I always used hog fencing exactly the way you are for peas, pole beans and cucumbers. You flowers are going to look so beautiful when they fill out. no wonder I like you so much. We could be sisters.

Your garden is so pretty Kathi! Thank you for the great, inspiring post! We didn't plant a garden last year and I am not sure we will this year because of our new dog. I miss it. I have been wanting to do a little herb garden, I was thinking about making one in a container and putting it in the front yard so the dog can't hurt it. You are so blessed with your gorgeous home and property! I love it! It's neat that your family works so hard together, that is one of the glues that keeps families together. I'm sorry about Stacey's injury, I hope he recovers quickly from it.

Have a great day today!

Love, Sharon

Your garden is magnificent! Your chives are beautiful. Chive flowers are one of my most favorite things to add to a salad - yummy! I planted a small raised vegetable garden this year. I think it's doing ok but I have a couple baby bunnies that seem to love my lettuce too much. :o) Oh, btw, marion berries are my favorite berry ever. My aunt grew up on a berry farm in Oregon and he daddy still has some of his berries. Mmmm I love marion berry pie! Thanks for sharing you garden. I love it!

I know what you mean about privacy...where I live the neighbors are QUITE close to each other,...I put a vintage cloth up in my kitchen window because the lady behind me is always looking at me when I am doing the dishes....

Oh, how blessed is my soul. I so long to be on our farm to do what you are doing, but all in His time. I guess I will be back many times and live vicariously through you my, sweet blogging friend!

Your garden and home are as beautiful as you and your Spirit! Be Blessed!

Kathi,

Wow ~ That is some garden! We used to garden years ago when the children were younger. I'm not sure why we stopped. I'd like to start again but on a smaller scale.

Blessings,

Gina

Hi Kathi! I am envious of your vegetable garden. It is so beautiful. I was thinking as I read this how different my surroundings are from you. You live in relative wide open space with land to "crop" like that. I live in a suburb, a beautiful one don't get me wrong, but we look out our family room window and see our neighbor's family room window! Then I realized how awesome it is that I can experience your world through words and pictures across the country. That is what makes the blogosphere so fun sometimes. Thanks for sharing!

Kathi, you have a beautiful garden my husband has started a small garden with only about 4or5 different veggies. So far he only has a couple of peppers that we can see, but this is his first time. I've been kinda slow getting around with my visits due to the holiday and all, now I'm playing catch up. Deb
