Sometimes You Need A Little Lift

"Dudn't it give you a lift?", when I mentioned her new kitchen towels. My mother-in-law, Vivian, emphatically stated, those words as she delightedly displayed and touched her new, "Tea Towels," as she called them, yes, "Tea Towels." I love it that I know some new words and expressions because of her.

Here I am 30 years later doing the same thing with drip bowls. "Drip bowls?" What are those? What dreary words for something simple that brings me a tiny spark of joy. Here they are...

Yep, my shiny aluminum rings that encase my stove elements. Such a small thing, but oh, by the end of canning season, it's time for a change, and yes, the new ones bring a spark of joy. The women from the last century always seemed to be buying hats. I guess that's what we women do when we need a little lift. We buy something small new to brighten our day. It's usually something inexpensive and somewhat needed. We replace an old item and for some reason it gives a little boost.
I am thankful for these tiny little perks that God let's me have, that I can afford. Oh, by the way, "Dudn't, according to the urban dictionary, means:  Oklahoma contraction, mixing didn't and doesn't, therefore covering both past and present tense jointly. I miss my dear mother-in-law. This month marks one year of her passing. I am thankful for her memory, but I miss her, and I am grateful that I will again see her some day.

                               John 13:5
"After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him."
                          Blessings, Kathi

Someone asked me what a tea towel is. I told them a dish towel but that my family had always called them tea towels or t-towels (not sure which). At least now I know others call them tea towels, too.
