Shoes

My eyes opened this morning to see next to my bed: My shoes. I immediately thought "...For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared...."
So out of habit I got the coffee going and opened my Bible to learn how I could become prepared.   I do not always do this. I wish I would. It is so tempting to walk over to my computer and look at face book or my blog. It takes discipline to daily get in the routine of spending quiet time with God first; first thing in the morning. This sweet time with God in the morning blesses my whole day. I can give the Lord my worries and cares. I can praise Him and thank Him. I can be free from guilt by confessing my sins and knowing that Jesus died for them and they are gone. I can start my day refreshed and at peace with the assurance that the Lord will go with me everywhere I go.  Look at what I wrote in the front of my Bible. These are Scriptures from inside my Bible, hand-written by me; easy references for me. I have Scriptures about CHRIST right in the front of my Bible. I must have THOSE Scriptures at my finger tips, because I want to share my Jesus with the wonderful people who come to my door. I must have my feet ready to share the Gospel. And now, I believe they are ready, but each day, I must prepare and be ready again because I do not know what the day holds, but the Lord does, and He will fit me with readiness.
The whole Scripture for the armor of God goes like this: Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Blessings, Kathi

Great post! I am so guilty of putting off my time with the Lord in the morning, and then shamefully realizing the day has gone! I really need to make it first priority of my day! Thanks for the reminder! ~Rhonda

I struggle with what to reach for first - my Bible or computer. I've reconciled this with a routine of drinking my first cup of coffee catching up on FB, email, and blog - this gives my brain time to wake - and for my 2nd cup I am wide awake and can concentrate on my Bible and prayer.

I love the picture of the shoes and starting off your day with ready feet!
