I Get To Go To A Concert With My Daughters

I am so excited. The girls and I are going to a concert! I just know how it will be. It will be in this beautiful place.
I know it will be a gorgeous concert hall, because the band has such lovely harmony, pretty lyrics and acoustic guitar. I am so excited to be with my girls hearing one of our favorite groups. Awhile back I told Victoria she could not go to a concert to see one of her favorites because the venue was terrible. It was in one of those standing only bars with a scary crowd. This concert would be acceptable. I just knew it.
Mom, I need to tell you something..." "Honestly, I want to tell you Mom," Jessica said, "But..." I think I will wait until we are driving there. Let's go..." I'm wondering what she meant, but not concerned. As Victoria drove us, I heard Jessica from the back seat say, "Mom, are you sure you are up for this?" "Are you kidding? I can't wait." "Well, Mom, there's something we have not told you. The concert will not be held in a gorgeous concert hall. It's going to be at a bar." "No, no it's at a theater," I corrected. "It's at the Hawthorn Theater. I know. I bought the tickets." "Mom," Victoria added, "Did you look at the photos online of this so called theater?" I confessed that I had not. Well, this is where I stood. Yes, I said stood for two hours with my fingers in my ears to protect my hearing. There were two bands ahead of the group we wanted to see. Finally, with a trash can on one side of me, a recycle bin on the other, and a sound board divider behind me (I found this niche where no one could touch me in the dark), I finally heard the band I came to see. Only it was so loud and distorted that I heard no harmony. It was all screeching and so loud I just knew I was loosing hearing by the second. I longed for that pretty concert hall where people wore neck ties and high heels. Every stroke of the piano key or guitar string was at the proper decibel. But no, I stood there counting the minutes before we could leave. Finally, I recognized one of my favorite songs, only no acoustic guitar could be heard. No pretty voices, just loud loud loud. It would be like you playing your favorite song, but turning up the volume so high that crackling distortion and disturbing booms are all you hear. Why do they do this at these so called concerts? Do people really enjoy this? Well, I have happy memories with my beautiful daughters anyway, in spite of what went on in that concert hall. My daughters enjoyed the "music" somehow. Plus, we got a burger and we laughed and enjoyed being with each other. That's what truly counts. I love my girls. The name of the group we saw is Eisley. One of my favorite songs by them is "Sea King." Victoria has learned to play the guitar and both girls sing harmoniously together. I also love "Brightly Wounded," and "Memories." Isn't life funny sometimes? I have made the mistake of envisioning something in my mind and building anticipation, only to find how very wrong I was. One thing for sure we can count on, and that is God's Word. No matter how grand we picture heaven, God says that,

"no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9    We will not be disappointed.

Blessings, Kathi

This is such a cute post. You are so blessed to have such neat daughters who love you!!! I agree, I don't like the excessively loud concerts, why is louder better? I like to actually hear the song the way it was intended. I think we are showing our age dear sister! I never thought about things like how comfortable I will be, where's the bathrooms, will I be warm enough, can I sit, etc. when I was young, but I sure do now! lol I'm glad you guys had a fun night!!!
