Just Thought I'd add...

Eleven years ago my brother visited me at my home in Washington state. He left this book with me. My husband and I soon became pregnant with our son Garrett. I was 40 years old and delivered him when I was 41. I read this book. I took it to heart. I thought I'd share this for those who struggle with weight loss and who want to be strong and healthy. Most of what they say in this book is how I ate, unknowingly, just because I
felt good when I ate this way. I believe there is an order to the way one eats. I appreciate what they say about the woman who ate a banana and drank a diet Coke on the way to her treadmill; she burnt the banana on that treadmill, but not her fat. Please, Dear Blogging Friends Struggling, "Don't burn the banana!" Instead, eat a handful of blanched almonds, which do not  turn instantly to blood sugar, rather they, are harder to turn into blood sugar. They wait. Your body has no choice, with the blanched almonds, it burns YOUR FAT. Please read this book. I was not trying to lose weight, but I did follow the diet, while expecting Garrett. He was so healthy when he was born, and the weight came right off of me at age 41. I do believe that genetics and environment play a part. I was breast fed. My mother was thin. She had very little milk-fat. I have thin arms and legs. My younger sister was put on formula: some kind of syrup including Karo Syrup, and cream, from DAY ONE. She, of course has a different set of fat cells to deal with than I do, even though we have the same parents. All of this is unfair, but it is reality. Our mother was hospitalized and could not nurse our baby sister Sharon. She had a fever of 105; unthinkable, but true, due to a kidney infection. Who suffered? My mother...pain...fear....worry over her children. Who else suffered? My dad...took time off work...sang songs to Kelli and me, ages 18 months and 32 months, with his guitar. Who else suffered? Well,  Aunt Maudie got up early and made the formula, and brought it over,  and kept it in the fridge. Sharon, suffered. She did not get to nurse from her own mama. She has different struggles today than her older two sisters do.  Sharon, Sweet baby Sharon, who survived! She lived!! Praise God!! What would I do without my Dear Sweet Sister Sharon?  We all have different areas where fat collects on our bodies. We are all beautiful. We do not deserve to be judged in a negative way if we have more fat cells than our sisters do. We lived!!! God loves us and wants us and has use for us, Period!! I just want to share with you, this book, in case it could help someone, by just changing the order in which she eats. In example, it is better to eat a handful of blanched almonds and get on the treadmill, instead of a banana. The almonds do not convert instantly to blood sugar. Your body will be forced to burn stored fat... something to think about. I pray blessings over all of you who are struggling with weight issues. Know that God loves you and that you are beautiful!!
Let's look to the heart of those we are acquainted with and are related to. Let's learn to love and not look on the outside all of the time.

"For drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags." Proverbs 23:21

"Then he said, “My son, bring me some of your game to eat, so that I may give you my blessing.” Jacob brought it to him and he ate; and he brought some wine and he drank." Genesis 27:25

Blessings, Kathi

I always knew there was a reason I had thunder thighs! lol I feel really good about my body/weight since I lost 15 pounds last summer. I really believe in eating everything in moderation. That's how the French women do it and they tend to stay thin. God gave us a bounty of food to eat and we should enjoy it, we just can't gorge! Happy new year!

Happy New Year to you Kathi, and your quest to stay healthy. Thanks for all of the information, I needed this pep talk. I lost weight last year, but during the holidays got back to old habits.
