Mrs. Lucy Pendleton

Mrs. Lucy Pendleton influenced me by being such a lady and woman of God. She came by to visit me while I worked at the Bon Marche' in the big city. I do not have a real photo of her, but she often wore a fox fur. Missing are the black gloves which used to scare my poor sister Kelli when she was about 2 years old in the foyer at Light House Temple. She was in her 70's when she visited me. She held both of my hands in hers as she quietly admonished me not to say "heck" or "gosh." She told me that both of those were slang for things we should not say. I truly honored this great lady of my youth and have not said those two words since then, ever!
When I was six years old I sat in the pew behind her at church and stared at the fox head biting the tail on her stole. It both enticed and horrified me at the same time. It was hard for me to concentrate on the sermon. I keep a recipe; the original typed and given to my mother as a young bride: "Hot Rolls." I keep it in my vintage recipe box, which once belonged to my grandmother. Lucy is a part of my heritage. I miss her. I will see her again some day.

Blessings, Kathi "...teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands..." Titus 2:4-5

I remember Mrs. Pendleton. She was one of the many ladies at the old Light House Temple church that dressed up every Sunday to the nines! I remember seeing her at the Bon March'e store and always thought she was so cute with her big clip on diamond encrusted earrings with matching chocker and bracelet and of course the famous fox fur! I always loved it that she wore bright red lipstick too. She loved the Lord and it was evident and she was a good wife and mother too!

Love, Sharon
