Cherry Pie

I have never made a cherry pie in my life, although I have always wanted to.
There is something about the pictures in my vintage Betty Crocker cookbook that intrigue me.
Look at the silver tray around her glass pie plate. Notice the lattice work she has carefully put together. I love the look of this. Could I achieve this look? I will try.
Here is my unbaked pie, ready for the oven. My sweet neighbor, Diane gave me enough cherries for eight pies. I'm delighted and so thankful.
Here is my pie on a silver tray from a thrift store. It's not the same silver pie plate as Betty Crocker used, but it is pretty enough for me.
Here it is on the table cloth looking down from above on the silver tray.
...and again in black and white.
I'm quite nostalgic and love the 1950's cookbooks and way in which food was served. Beautiful table settings, dishes and serving pieces were used, because the people eating off them were important and the day was special. Every day is special. I'd like to try to serve my food to my family with the utmost care, using pretty things, because I love them.
"Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer..." Romans 12:10-12

Like you, I also enjoy those cookbooks from the 50s. I think this is such a fun idea you have here and I believe your pie is even prettier than the one in the cookbook. Don't tell Betty Crocker I said that :).
How great to have fresh cherries from your neighbor!!

I have the same cookbook! I bought it in 1975 when I was a newlywed. I still love using it.

Your pie looks beautiful & delicious!

What a pretty pie! I haven't seen twisted lattice before. This is the cookbook I bought as a young wife and being paperback it is now just a stack of papers. LOL It gets a lot of use. Thanks for coming by!
