A Touch of Black For My Kitchen Accent Color

Good Morning Ladies. I have been gone most of the summer. I've enjoyed my break very much. So much has happened and I have many things to share with you, but I must go at a slow pace of about one post a week. I've missed you and look forward to stopping in to visit your blogs again. Here is something I had fun with this summer; I added an accent color to my kichen! It all started when I bought an antique black bread box last Christmas. I had never thought of black being an accent color in my kitchen, but when I added the bread box I liked it.

I had always wanted a black and white checked floor for nostalgic look. Below I found this sconce for six dollars and put dried flowers in it. When I began finding little touches of black I wished I had that floor even more.
Then I discovered this cute little rug. It has black and white checks and chickens; two of my favorite kitchen items.
I loved the way it looks. I bought three of them, so now I get the fun look and still have my pretty wood floors. It's a win win situation.
I found these cute vinegar and oil bottles for $1.50 at Goodwill and love it that they add to my new color scheme perfectly.
I decided to go with some black tea-towels for fun. I'm really enjoying the fact that just adding an accent color changes the look and feel of the room completely.
My good friend Pam gave this 'Hope' sign to me for my birthday. I love it.
So here is the way it looks with the three little rugs.
I've very happy with the way it all turned out. I hope you'll try adding an accent color in your home some time too. "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

I have been wondering how you are doing. You have been missed!
I really like the black accent you have added to your kitchen. I have always wanted a black and white checked floor, also. My kitchen is so 70's but some day I hope to redo it.
I am looking forward to your future posts ~ it's good to have you back!
August Blessings!

Kathi-
Glad you had a good break! I love your new kitchen items! I especially love the little rugs! Also-my blog is no longer on private status, so it should be easier to view! I just love those wood floors! I want to put wood in the kitchen. The guy at Home Depot says not to. I still think I might though. I love that warm homey feel! Blessings-
Molly
