Sunday With Friends and Family

I had a lunch date with my girlfriends from high school Sunday afternoon. I dropped in to see my dad and sister Kelli at their church before my appointment. It's always so good to see Dad.
My sister Kelli and her husband Ralph attend the same church so it was wonderful to see them as well. They were having a potluck after the service, so I watched them eat.
Hi had a wonderful time after that visiting with some of my high school friends. We never seem to have enough time to catch up, but it was so fun.
On my way home from visiting my friends I stopped in to visit Dad and Mom at their home. This is Dad in his shop. He built it himself with help from his brother Lester. It's warm and cozy in there. He has his Bible and radio, which he enjoys while being in here. Behind him are framed photos of his brothers and himself during their service to our country.

All seven brothers served in the military. Two of them Lawrence and Ellis, during WWII.
In his window sill he has this cute carved piece of wood that says Leonard and Shirley. I love it that my dad has these kinds of things in his shop. I need to take more photos of the special things he has in here like this.
This is one of my dad's favorite photos of his mother reading her Bible. She did read her Bible every day and loved the Lord so much. It's a favorite photo of mine as well. I had such a good time visiting my friends and family. My mother was not well enough for photos, but I enjoyed visiting her too. I love you Dad and Mom. Kathi

your dad is a very special man. i love that he has his favorite items in his work shop. his mom is a doll. what a beautiful picture of her reading her bible. I love the picture of all the brothers in their military uniforms. I have a picture of my grandfather in his navy uniform that reminds me of the brother inbetween lawrence and leonard.

How wonderful that you can visit with your friends and your parents! What a treasure to have such a heritage of faith and service like your dad's! It reminds me a little of my family. My dear mother is in heaven now, though, and dad is far away, so I don't get to visit him very often. My closest high school friends have scattered, too. I am so happy for you that you have these dear ones close to you to cherish!

What a nice post Kathi. I love the photo with all the brothers in uniform. How proud you all must be of them. We do take the smallest things for granted, like that carved piece of wood. I have been trying to take one day at a time and enjoy each day as it comes.

Kathi-

Thank you for visiting my blog. I am honored to have you as a follower of my blog along with Sharon! I love your posts about your sweet parents and family. I am also impressed with your return to work. I homeschooled for 7 years, and now I volunteer at my daughters' high school a couple of days a week.
God bless you!

Kath, you seriously look like you could still be in high school!

That is a sweet photo of your father and also of your grandmother. How blessed you were to be brought up knowing Christ.

Hi Kathi sweetie! It looks like you had a fun time lunching with the girls, and a very lovely visit with your family too. Your parents just come across as the loveliest, most gentle people. What a blessing they are to you, and you to them! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead dear friend.
