Hot Cocoa In the Morning

Sometimes I like to wake my children with a cup of hot cocoa in the morning. This is my sister Sharon's idea. She does this usually once per season or holiday and uses the cutest cups, which match the holiday. She even has "Luck of the Irish" for St. Patrick's Day. I have not been able to find cute Halloween ones yet. I checked yesterday and the day before at thrift stores, but didn't find really cute ones.
Since these are appropriate colors for fall, I'll use these. For my daughters I give them their cocoa and say, "Good Morning." I let them wake up slowly and drink it. For my seven year old, I sit on his bed and read a story while he drinks it. My oldest son, Harrison is now liking coffee better, and sometimes beats me to the kitchen, so I am not doing this for him as often as before. At Christmas time I like to put a peppermint candy cane in the cup. I like to follow Sharon's suggestion to do this just once in awhile to keep it special, and not daily or even weekly. Have a lovely Saturday ladies. Hugs, Kathi

Kathy, You and Sharon are too cool. I feel like I know both of you. We could be best of friends. I think we don't live too far apart. I think it would be fun to run into either of you some day. Have a great day. Pam

What a cute idea to make them feel special with seasonal cups. I make my boys hot chocolate in the fall/winter mornings and add powdered chocolate protein for their growing muscles. (but I only use boring fiesta mugs.) I am going to start searching for some fun seasonal mugs at garage sales.

What a cute idea! I love to snuggle up with a cup of hot chocolate. Especially when it's snowing outside. I think your cups worked very nicely.

What a great idea! I know Gracie would love that. Except that she's usually up before I am!

What a sweet, gentle way to wake your children in the morning! Life is harsh enough for kids, isn't it? You sound like a great mommy!

My kids LOVE it when I serve hot chocolate and toast for breakfast! I rarely do the "special" event thing though...okay...I admit I have NEVER done that. I think the cute little cups etc.. would be lost on my boys. BUT they do love it when I serve it up. I get a lot of THANKS MOM! When I do!

My children love drinking chocolate milk and hot cocoa (of course topped w/marshmellows).

Looking at the pics made me feel like I was at the tea party, except I didn't any presents (LOL!). Thanks for sharing.
