A Few More Forgotten Pictures of Summer 08

I am still way behind in posting. Here are a few more shots of our summer 08 activities:
My husband Stacey using my Grandpa Irving's old rototiller on the hillside.
My dad Leonard, came over Saturday to visit. He is standing next to Stacey, while he burns and clears the area leading down to the creek.
Lunch time with my dad. We really enjoyed seeing him and had a good visit. Mom was not feeling well enough to come over. We miss her greatly.

Evening sitting around the fire pit. Our son Garrett roasts his marshmallow.
One of the many batches of pear butter I made.
We dug up a nice crop of red and yellow potatoes.

One last day at the pool. It was 100 degrees that day.
Another very hot day in August, so what do you do? Head for the river; so we did.
Our son Harrison is kneeling, and his friend Brandon is pumping up the raft. Brandon was able to go with us.
Here is our son Garrett at take off.
My husband Stacey with our daughter Jessica in the background.

Garrett and me enjoying the float.
I think one can never remember to bring enough food on these floats, especially for teenagers.
Our daughter Victoria and Garrett. what a gorgeous day it was.
Harrison and Brandon floated slightly ahead of us. This portion of the river reminded me of the original Planet of the Apes when they floated in the water at the beginning of the movie. It was so quiet; sort of eerie.
On another day Garrett and I had a picnic at our creek.
It wasn't warm enough that day so I didn't get wet. Sometimes I'm a chicken.
We found lots of crawdads. That's what we call them here. I know they are known as craw fish in the south. I ate them when I was in Texas.
Harrison got off early from work that day and joined us.
Our four children waiting for the fire-works to begin.
Harrison and Grandma Vivian visiting.
We have a lot of wind-fall apples, which if not picked up become full of intoxicated bees.
We throw the apples over the fence to our COWS. They love them.
Some of the many jars of apple sauce I am making.
Our daughter Jessica sewing her skirt. It's nearly finished.
Harrison helped me with strawberries.
My husband's company picnic was so much fun. Garrett really enjoyed the bouncy houses and water slides.
We met up with some dear old friends. This is my friend Inez. She is from Italy, and my can she cook. I have not seen her in about 15 years.
This is her husband Horst. He is from Germany. We used to have them over for dinner and go over to their place before we had children, and then moved around the country. We will soon have them over again.
A live band played really fun Classic Rock for us.
After the music there were fire-works. They were amazing; better than the 4th of July and Disney Land combined.
Time for a little soft ball after dinner; Stacey and Garrett.
Victoria shows us how well she can bat.

Our last week of summer school in the barn. Me with Jake, our only paying student, and Garrett.
Jessica helping to count out the beans for math.
Jessica helped the kids make "Flubber." We had such a fun summer and we are so blessed. I have a few more pictures of summer during our visit to my sister Sharon's house, but that will be shown next week. Have a blessed day. Hugs, Kathi

What a beautiful piece of property you live on. You are a very blessed woman. I love your cows. Whenever I'm driving to Brooks to bring my husband home I always want to pull over on the interstate and pet the sheep and the cows.

Thank You kathi for the wisdom you share with me. I simply cant express what your kind words do for me. I explained to my son yesterday what partial birth abortions were. I think he gets it. I will have faith in my son, he is a compassionate young man.

It's so hard to believe summer is over! It looks like you guys had a great one! Lots of fun family activities, that's the best way to spend summer! I usually am really excited for fall, but it hasn't kicked in for me yet. Hopefully soon! I have so many fall decorations I need to get out, but I want to wait a few more weeks.

Huggies,
Shar

P.S. I found the dress I'm wearing to the wedding today! yea!

Homemade apple sauce? I'll be right over. I LOVE apple sauce, it's almost weird how much I eat it.
