Youth Group at Our Farm

Where is Victoria going with that pitcher of Kool-aid?
She is looking for two hard working boys who've been digging trenches, building forts and bunkers all winter long.
Where are those hard working boys? She searches the war zone, we call "Shady Thicket," but does not see them. This is actually a winter view of Shady Thicket.
Aha! There is her brother inside one of the forts.
It is now summer and hot enough for a cool drink. Everyone stops to have some ice cold Kool-aid. Why though, have the boys been working so hard on these bunkers and trenches?

Here's the reason. This is our youth group. They come over about three times a year for an air-soft war and fiesta!!
My husband hauls everyone out on the trailer, about a half mile to Shady Thicket.
The girls come along for the ride and watch the guys for awhile too.
Some people walk out rather than ride, and stay to watch the war.
Here are a few on-lookers and some boys getting ready for the war. There is a neutral zone, and of course lots of rules.

Then the war begins.
The guys are divided into teams.
Some find advantage points.
The girls decide to have their own fun and begin square dancing and country line dancing.

The girls have fun just being together talking. They never run out of things to say.

TIME TO EAT!
We fed this hungry crowd taco meat and beans, with tortilla chips and salsa.
Norie, Trudy, Me, and Michael serving the kids.

I think the teeter-totter is slightly bowing!!
Time to light the camp fire.

Peggy and Trudy sitting by the fire. Trudy is the self-appointed queen of our town of 200. We were honored to have her with us and gave her the seat of honor as well. The "Queen" was not amused!
Time to go out for one last battle. These are the younger boys Kaydin, Garrett, and Mark, who like watching. We had a wonderful time. I'm glad you came along with us. "It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, and sets me on my high places. He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up..." Psalm 18:32-35 One final note, please dear blogging friends be safe on this Memorial Day weekend. I care about you. If you are not doing anything, come over and play bad mitten with me. Trust me; you will win. Hugs, Kathi

Oh, I wish I could come over and play too! It looks like so much fun. When I was young our youth group did so many fun things like that. The church we go to now does not really do much with the kids. I would love for my boys to find a nice group to be involved in.
Have a gread memorial day!

Hi Kathi, that was a fun outing for the kids. The preparation made it that much better having to build forts and such. The food was good too. Deb
