Peace Like A River

ISN'T PEACE SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE A POND?
"If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river." Isaiah 48:18 Author, Bible teacher, Beth Moore, pointed out to me that peace like a RIVER is very different than peace like a POND. PEACE LIKE A POND WOULD BE QUITE DULL Photobucket Beth Moore said, "...a peace that can be retained while life twists and turns and rolls over boulders...To have peace like a river is to have security and tranquillity of heart and mind while meeting many bumps and unexpected turns on life's journey through change." Photobucket
Peace like a river can be quite exciting and never dull. Sometimes I get scared and say, "You mean you are taking me down that raging river, Lord?" The Lord didn't say that I would have no problems in this life. He promised, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
I need to remember that even though I don't know what is ahead, Jesus is with me in the boat.
Have a blessed day, Kathi

This is a great post Kathi! I never thought about that when I hear the scripture peace like a river. I always imagine the peaceful parts of a river, the frog water, not the roaring rapids! As you know we go boating quite often and there is such a peace out there on the river, but it is a little scary through the white water, but I have faith in Eric as he is guiding the boat through, just imagine how much more faith we have in our Heavenly father at the helm!

I had so much fun at lunch yesterday with you! I am going to post about it tomorrow!

Love you! Sharon

Oh, Kathi...this is a wonderful post. I just love it. It makes me want to run out and shout just what you wrote...that peace can be like a river, sometimes a raging river and not always a still, untroubled pond.
Thank you for giving me a wonderful point to ponder today.
I hope it is ok with you if I ask folks to come over and read this..I'm posting it today!! smiles

Thanks for sharing this. My husband and I are going through a trial concerning his family. I like the picture of the river, I have stood at the same spot before and taken that very picture and I love it. The Lord bless your day! Elena

Kathi, Beautiful post. I love this scripture:
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
Matthew 8:26 NIV

Hugs, Terrie
